In my last post, I discussed and introduced the idea of TikTok and ThatGirl Niche. When studying and researching this niche I wish to explore how is ‘That Girl’ persona and lifestyle content created on TikTok form unique personas, and how this different ‘personality’ will affect the audience and community who interact with them. Is this lifestyle sustainable and achievable? What is the criteria to be a That Girl?
Jenna Burrell; an academic specialising in ethnography, explains that, “Through the work of constructing a field site, researchers define the objects and subjects of their research.” (Burrell, 2009, p.1). I believe I have formed a question that is niche and concentrated to develop a more detailed understanding of the mental state of those individuals that try to create this lifestyle for themselves.
Self care and creating a healthy lifestyle for yourself is a large apart of that girl persona.

This particular niche has relevance to my future career as I am interested in working in all things fashion, beauty and lifestyle. Studying into the ‘That Girl’ introduces me to the world of influencing and branding. TikTok influencers are used as one of many strategies that brands use to advertise. The individuals that would benefit from my project are; brands, individuals intaking in this lifestlye, content creators, health experts.
I bring a young, fun approach to my studies. I am an Australian, female located in the heart of Wollongong. I love online shopping, fashion and spreading self love. This will allow me to generate new knowledge for my project, gaining knowledge about the niche. I will be creating mood boards, feedback sheets and blogging my experience to form an indepth opinion about my pitch.
The first and forward problem that I begin to see if that the lifestyle displayed in these TikToks of That Girl lifestyle is extremely unrealistic. It is unattainable and setting expectations too high for yourself. This problem begun as soob as I researched this niche.
